Madness was founded in January of 2004 by Sean Mahoney. The inspiration to
create a normal website came to Sean when he and Asian Thunder (Quang) were
talking about nothingness as usual. Sean had the idea of just making a normal
website. The biggest problem with that is Sean is anything but normal. Sean started the website as just a place to post pictures and funny videos he
found. But after awhile that just wasn't enough. He wanted more, he wanted to
ma ke people laugh himself.
So his first video section was "Video Madness" where Sean posted the first
bashing video. He then took a crack at
voiceovers on cartoons. This was funny to Sean and some viewers but there was
still something missing. Sean had a realization, the more random the funnier it
could be. Sean thought the best way to be random would be to answer emails from
the viewers of the site.
At this point, "Sean Emails" were born. Sean started off quickly with the
random skits. From smelling wash clothes to dancing about yoo-hoo. Since the
first Sean Email that section has taken off to be the one of the most popular
sections. Sean explored even the most random things like the beloved "Running
Man."
Sean has always had an obsession with movie trailers. Sean had made a few for
no reasons, things like flag football. But he felt it was time to make a real
trailer and do it right. That is when he made a section called "Movie Trailers."
He pulled out all kinds of
things
in his first trailer to make people laugh.
Stereotypical Buddy Cops
was so successful that the number of hits the day it was released was the
highest in Mahoney Madness history.
In March of 2004, as he finished his first trailer, Sean took on a co-writer
for some of the skits. Michael Williams one of Sean's good friends. Michael has
become an important part of Mahoney Madness. He has created characters and
played them, like the preacher or
Cheech.
Mike's ability to add to Sean's ideas or give Sean a base for an idea to expand
on has made Mahoney Madness a funnier place to visit.
Mahoney Madness will continue to attempt to make people laugh while it grows.
Hopefully the word will spread and Mahoney Madness can become a premier comedy
site.
